City Maps 2Go – offline maps app powered by openmaps

Today’s app is an offline map app. It has over 150 cities available (see the list in the App Store). The two caveats are that you have to download the map before hand (planning required) and that it uses OpenStreetMaps, which is good but not perfect (think wikipedia of maps). Then again, maps in guidebooks usually leave quite a bit to be desired too. One last note: the current $1.99 price is introductory. Get it while it lasts.

City Maps 2Go[App Store] City Maps 2 Go is a perfect application for tourists on city trips and locals who need an offline-available, quick and cost-effective tool to navigate with their iPhone and iPod Touch.

City Maps 2 Go is not limited to one city. It is not dependent on an Internet connection, nor does it cost more than you want to spend for something as simple as a map. Pay just once for the application and you will download maps for a constantly growing number of cities at no additional charges.

Once the maps are downloaded you will no longer need an Internet connection to access and use your app. This means you can explore each city in offline mode. You can search the map for street names and points of interest. You can do so quickly and reliably with no connection to the Internet.

And to top it off you can and will avoid hefty roaming charges and other inconveniences when travelling, using the map anytime and everywhere you want.

NOTE: This application requires WiFi. Maps can only be downloaded over WiFi NOT over cellular networks.
